Indoor Pouf
Transforming low-value handwoven reed mats from Khon Kaen into modern indoor poufs.
The pouf is constructed from reed mats woven on small community looms, which determine the fabric’s width. Its six V-shaped segments, inspired by the starfruit form, arise from cutting and reassembling the original mat panels. The traditional “window” motif is recolored to suit contemporary interiors.
Reed mats are traditionally used as floor coverings and often carry limited market value. BAKFEONG shifts their function into durable upholstered seating, extending material lifespan while repositioning Northeastern Thai weaving within modern decorative environments.
