INDIGO MARBLE

Indoor Container

This work explores the development of indigo dyeing culture beyond its traditional application in textiles, reimagining it through three-dimensional form. Indigo, long valued for its deep, organic hues and cultural significance, is translated from fabric into object, preserving its identity while expanding its function.

The design introduces lightweight containers made from papier-mâché, shaped into soft, jar-like forms that echo the rounded silhouettes of traditional storage vessels. Each piece is paired with a lid inspired by the distinctive form of the Siamese hat, creating a subtle dialogue between everyday objects and cultural identity.

The indigo-dyed surface retains its rich tonal variations, emphasizing the handcrafted process and the natural character of the material. This transformation allows indigo to move beyond wearable textiles into domestic space, becoming part of daily rituals.

By merging traditional dyeing techniques with new forms and materials, the work revitalizes indigo culture, making it accessible, functional, and relevant within a contemporary context.

Caution: Avoid contact with moisture or wet areas.
