MAHASAMUT

Caviar Plateau

MAHASAMUT: Sacred Ear Form and Oceanic Waves Transforming the iconic Thai sacred ear motif into a caviar serving tray, adorned with three-dimensional gilded lacquer patterns inspired by ocean waves.

The tray is hand-carved in a stylized ear-shaped silhouette derived from Thai Buddhist sculpture. It is finished with deep black Urushi lacquer and decorated using the Lai Rod Nam water-gilding technique, creating spiral wave motifs in gold leaf.

In Thai iconography, elongated sacred ears symbolize wisdom and spiritual receptivity. MAHASAMUT merges this sacred form with the imagery of the Northern Sea, elevating caviar presentation into a dialogue between Thai heritage craftsmanship and global fine dining culture.
