Northern Bloom: Golden Orchid Shelf

A functional sculpture that merges traditional Northern Thai orchid carving—associated with the artisans of the SUPPORT Foundation—with contemporary brass casting, transforming the delicate form of wild orchids into a welcoming display shelf.

The carved orchid flowers and leaves are crafted with remarkable delicacy, creating the illusion of blossoms freshly emerging from the forest.
 The supporting structure is formed from cast brass, shaped into twisting stems and branching foliage that extend outward to function as trays and shelves.

Wild orchids are a distinctive element of Northern Thailand’s forest landscapes and have long inspired regional craftsmanship.
 In this work, traditional carving techniques are reinterpreted through contemporary materials, transforming the beauty of forest flora into a sculptural object designed to welcome and host guests.

Materials & Techniques:
Antique gold brass, dark brown and mahogany wood.
