Indoor Stool
Reimagining low-value handwoven reed mats from Khon Kaen as a simple, versatile indoor stool that stands out in any corner of the home.
The stool incorporates traditional Isan “Khid” patterned papyrus mat weaving, historically used as household flooring. A clean metal frame elevates the woven surface, allowing the vibrant patterns to become the focal decorative element.
In Thai-Lao culture, the mat—known locally as “Saad”—is central to domestic life, used for sleeping, dining, and gathering. SITSAAD shifts this humble floor object into contemporary furniture, extending its function while celebrating regional identity, craftsmanship, and joyful color within modern interiors.
